Well then, talk about major news in the college football world. This past season, superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was incredible to watch for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The freshman sensation played a huge role in the Big Ten powerhouse winning the National Championship.
Coming out of high school, Smith was ranked five stars, the No. 1 wideout in the country and No. 1 prospect overall. He signed with Ohio State over countless other powerhouse programs, including the Miami Hurricanes.
However, could a school come in and look to get Smith to leave Columbus after only one season? According to On3's Pete Nakos, an unknown program has put a $4.5 million NIL offer on the table for the speedster to enter the transfer portal. So, you're saying there's a chance?
Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith reportedly has a $4.5 million offer to enter the transfer portal
We want to make it fully clear that Miami has not been reported as the program who had made the offer out to Smith. However, social media has wasted no time going wild with the thought of Smith entering the portal and potentially playing for the Hurricanes and head man Mario Cristobal.
Not long ago, Miami made a different kind of splash, signing star quarterback Carson Beck right after he announced he was going to leave Georgia and enter the portal. It was reported that Georgia still wanted Beck back, while Alabama also called, but the QB's mind was made up to play for Cristobal.
Since that signing went down, there's been plenty of buzz that the Canes would bring in a big-name receiver for Beck, most likely during the spring window. However, what if Smith decides to enter the portal shortly after helping the Buckeyes win the natty? Should that happen, Cristobal and his staff would obviously have to go all-in to make sure Smith moves to Miami too. Stay tuned.
