Soon enough, Miami football will take the CFP field once again, as a trip to the national title game will be on the line against Ole Miss. Despite the majority of the focus being on closing the season out in style, Mario Cristobal also has his eyes on the transfer portal.
Miami gets best injury news possible ahead of CFP semifinal vs. Ole Miss
This week, rumors once again started flying that maybe Jeremiah Smith was going to be a potential target. What, this again? On Tuesday in particular, people were convinced that Smith could look to leave Columbus and maybe return closer to home to suit up for the Hurricanes. That's not going to happen, with Smith throwing cold water all over that idea once and for all:
Not going nowhere 😂😂🤦🏾♂️

Ohio State football WR Jeremiah Smith silences transfer portal rumors
All it took was a quick three-word social media post from Smith for everyone in Coral Gables to forget about this idea. Smith is without question the best wide receiver in the country and he'll be off to the NFL Draft once the 2026 campaign comes to a close.
If he was eligible to enter the draft now, he'd be in the No. 1 overall pick conversation. However, since he just wrapped up his sophomore season, he has one more year to go before he can make the jump to the pros. That's good news for Ohio State, but not great for defenses everywhere else.
As for the Hurricanes, this isn't the first time word was traveling across the country that Smith might be open to playing for Miami. Last offseason, it was all everyone was talking about once the portal opened up, but Smith stayed put. That's once again going to be the case this year too.
On Thursday night, Miami will be ready to rock and the Canes have plenty of confidence leading up to taking on the Rebels. This comes after the Canes stunned Smith and the Buckeyes in the quarterfinals. While the thought of Smith playing for Miami has always been fun, it's off the table. Despite that, things are rockin' for The U and Cristobal has the program in the hunt to win it all.
