With the way the rivalry between Miami and Notre Dame has gone over the years, you just know that head man Mario Cristobal would love to land a recruiting jab or two on Marcus Freeman this cycle. Well, that door has been opened in quite a big way.
Miami's win over SMU sets up dream road to the ACC Tournament final for Jai Lucas
For now, 4-star cornerback Xavier Hasan is South Bend-bound, giving Freeman his verbal. However, the Canes are working to change his mind and in an interview with Rivals' EJ Holland, the youngster said the play of former Miami standout defensive back Keionte Scott is surely something that he's been paying attention to:
"I study Keionte Scott a lot. That’s the type of defense I’m looking for.”

Miami is hoping to flip 4-star Notre Dame commit Xavier Hasan
Scott only spent one campaign in Coral Gables, making the move to the ACC after previously suiting up for the Auburn Tigers. He was a total joy to watch last campaign working under Cristobal and defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman, which raised his NFL Draft stock.
Fresh off a strong showing at the NFL Combine, Scott indeed is getting increased buzz before the draft. He also helped his case in the College Football Playoff, with a pick-six vs. Ohio State at the Cotton Bowl being something Miami fans will never forget.
It looks like his strong play is something Hasan is a huge fan of too, which has him keeping a close eye on the Canes. Per Holland, the 2027 playmaker is working on potentially taking a trip to Miami in the near future, which will only help Cristobal's case in attempting to pull off a flip.
Per the 247Sports Composite, the 5-11, 195-pounder is ranked four stars and the No. 5 cornerback in the country. He's got more than 40 offers to his name, but Notre Dame is the one ready to sign him come next December. With that said, the Canes won't go down without a fight and if Miami does pull this off, Scott will be getting a major assist. Only time will tell if that happens or not.
