Louisville guard Terrence Edwards scored 27 and Reyne Smith had 26 to lead the Cardinals in an 88-78 win over Miami on Saturday. A.J. Staton-McCray led Miami with 22 points and Matthew Cleveland had 21. J'Vonne Hadley was the other Cardinal in double figures with 12 points. Lynn Kidd and Divine Ugochukwu had 10 for Miami.
Louisville set the foundation for the game by taking a 46-38 lead at halftime. Miami cut the deficit to 52-49, but an 8-0 Louisville run gave the Cardinals a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game. Hadley gave Louisville a 2-0 lead. Cleveland followed with a layup for the only tie of the game at two.
Louisville scored the next four points and would hold the lead for 39:22 on their way to the win. The Cardinals led by as many as 12 points in the first half, before the Hurricanes were able to cut the deficit to eight at halftime. Miami scored the first four points of the second half to pull within four.
Louisville and Miami exchanged baskets before the Cardinals' decisive 8-0 run. Miami rallied to cut the deficit to six twice but was not able to get closer as Louisville led by as many as 15. Louisville made 54.1 percent of their shots from the floor in the first half and shot 7-16 on three-point attempts in the second half.

Miami shot 50.8 percent from the floor but made only six of its 21 three-point attempts. Louisville shot 49.3 percent for the game and made 11 of its 31 three-point attempts. Edwards made 10-16 from the floor, three of his four three-point attempts and all four free throws with five rebounds and 10 assists.
Smith was 7-19 from the floor, made six of his 16 three-point attempts and all six of his free throws with four rebounds and five assists. Staton-McCray had his best game for Miami shooting 8-14 from the floor, 2-6 on three-point attempts and 4-5 free throws. Cleveland was 9-18, 2-5 and 1-3. Kidd led Miami with 11 rebounds.
Miami returns home on Tuesday to host Syracuse who was 10-13 overall and 4-8 in the Big East entering their game with Boston College on Saturday afternoon. The Hurricanes have eight games remaining this season and are three games behind Notre Dame and Syracuse for the final spot in the ACC Tournament.
