Miami's 2027 recruiting class lost one of its longest-standing commits on Friday. The Canes parted ways with four-star wide receiver Ah'Mari Stevens, and then the Chaminade-Madonna prospect announced his commitment to LSU.
Stevens took an official visit to LSU this week, and it seemed like he could be headed towards a commitment to the Tigers.

Once the Hurricanes made it known that Stevens was not going to be a part of future plans, the decision to flip to LSU was easy.

He is no longer considered to be a member of the program’s class.

Miami and Mario Cristobal parts ways with 4-star WR Ah'Mari Stevens just before he committed to LSU
The recent visit clearly changed the trajectory for Stevens, despite being committed to Miami for over a year. LSU hired Lane Kiffin to take over as head coach in 2025 and they will certainly be a recruiting force for as long as he is with the program.
On3's industry ranking currently has Stevens as the No. 245 overall prospect and the No. 25 player in Florida.
Earlier on Friday, OT Zaquan Linton and Miami mutually agreed to part ways, ending a commitment that dated back to last July. Linton and Stevens were two of the earliest commitments in the class.
The staff is drawing a line in the sand. The Hurricanes had already seen LSU make a serious move prior to the commitment news, and Friday's decision suggests Cristobal's staff would rather move on than spend the summer defending a commitment that no longer looked solid.
Right now, Nick Lennear is the remaining wide receiver commit in Miami's 2027 class. On3's Industry Ranking has the Miami Carol City standout No. 26 overall, No. 6 among wide receivers, and No. 5 in the state of Florida.
Lennear committed to Miami on March 5, choosing the Hurricanes over programs that included LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Syracuse.
