In Miami's National Championship run last season, there was one player that fans knew would make a play whent he ball was put in his hands. Freshman wide receiver Malachi Toney was a stellar playmaker for the Hurricanes last season, and proved what made him so special to the Hurricanes.
When it mattered most in the National Championship game, Toney was able to bring the Hurricanes back into the game with a huge touchdown catch for 22 yards that brought Miami back within a score of the Indiana Hoosiers. Unfortunately for Miami, they lost the game in the end, but Toney proved to be a superstar.
There was some worry that Toney would leave Miami for the transfer portal after the season, but instead, the young freshman made sure every Hurricane fan knew he was loyal to The U, and he wasn't going anywhere.
Now, with his sophomore season approaching in the fall, Toney is sharing with Hurricanes fans exactly what makes Miami so special to him.

In a video by Golden Touch Cuts, Toney spoke about his love of football, what got him into the sport, and his favorite memory. Toney also spoke about what it meant to know that football could be a serious route for him when he began receiving college offers.
Then, Toney spoke about his love for Miami adn jsut know it was right when he picked the Hurricanes, and it was something that just couldn't be explained. He said that Miami was different than any other school and it is a special place to be, but one person who makes it so special is head coach Mario Cristobal.
Cristobal adn Toney have a close relationship, messing with each other, but also pushing each other to be the best player and coach that they can be. Toney knows that Cirstobal is going to make him not just a great football player, but a great person as well off the field.
Toney said that at Miami, it is the Hurricane way; it is something different for every player, but they are all able to come together and play as one. When Toney does leave Miami, most likely for the NFL someday, he wants fans to remember him as a player that they could count on.
Toney wants to be remembered as the guy who was able to make any play that was needed, and he certainly proved that in his freshman season.
