Malachi Toney has the "Most receptions WITHOUT a drop among ALL FBS WRs" according to Cam Mellor of PFSN. Toney leads Miami with 38 receptions and 510 receiving yards and is second with three touchdowns behind C.J. Daniels.
Six of the top nine WRs listed by Mellor on X are from power conference programs. Que'Sean Brown, Duke, with 31 receptions in 2025, is the only other ACC WR listed by Mellor. Toney is 14th nationally in receptions per game and 18th in receiving yards per contest.
Toney leads all freshmen nationally in receptions, catches per game and receiving yards per game. Per David Lake of Inside the U, "Pro Football Focus has graded Toney with a(n) 85.7 receiving grade, which ranks seventh best nationally amongst receivers with at least 40 targets."
Lake continued Toney is 10th nationally with 311 yards after the catch, is averaging 8.2 yards after the receptions and has forced 13 missed tackles, which are both ninth nationally, while recording four receptions on six targets on contested catches.

Toney has five receptions on nine deep targets for 155 yards and two TDs per Lake. On targets where the ball is within nine yards of the line of scrimmage, Toney had 344 receiving yards and 155 on deep shots, according to Lake.
Toney has 21 receptions for first downs,10 for 15 or more yards and five catches for 25 or more. The Miami freshmen records of 49 receptions and 934 receiving yards set by Ahmmon Richards in 2016 should be shattered by Toney by the end of the season.
Toney is on pace to break Richards' Miami freshman reception record at SMU on November 1 and the receiving yardage standard in the final game of the regular season at Pittsburgh on November 29. The season Toney is having is the best by a Miami WR and at any position in program history.
