Miami misses badly as elite 2027 RB Myson Johnson-Cook commits to Auburn

Johnson-Cook's finalists were Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Miami and Ole Miss, but the race had come down to Miami and Auburn by the end. Rivals' prediction machine had Miami trending, but Auburn got the final push, bringing Johnson-Cook back to campus for another spring visit.

Johnson-Cook is one of the top backs in the country. 247Sports has him ranked No. 74 nationally, No. 4 among running backs and No. 3 in Illinois. He ran for 1,341 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2025.

Miami still has a top 10 class for 2027 and Mario Cristobal will continue to have top talent interested in coming to Coral Gables. As of right now, Miami does not have a RB commit in the class of 2027.

The highest ranked Miami commits in the 2027 class are QB Israel Abrams and WR Nick Lennear.
