Mario Cristobal continues stacking those trench warriors for the Miami Hurricanes.

Three-star offensive lineman Tyler Ford became the latest member of the 2027 recruiting class. The Gainesville, Georgia native selected the Hurricanes over offers from Georgia, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Florida State and a host of others. Last weekend the Hurricanes added JUCO offensive lineman Jacob Hawks to the 2026 class.

Ford took an unofficial visit to Miami last week and the Hurricanes were the leader coming out of that trip with an official visit planned for June 5. Rather than continue to look around, Ford decided it was time to pull the trigger.

3-star OL Tyler Ford commits to the Hurricanes

Cristobal's strategy has always been to pile up numbers on the offensive and defensive line, building quality depth pieces and pairing them with elite prospects. Ford becomes the third offensive lineman in the class, joining four-star interior lineman Sean Tatum and three-star tackle Zaquan Linton. The Hurricanes are still the heavy favorite to land top in-state tackle Mark Matthews, a five-star prospect from Fort Lauderdale, and they are also in the picture for elite prospect Oluwasemilore Olubobola, who is also expected to take an official visit to Coral Gables.

For Ford, there was no question that Miami was the top choice and his decision was based on the Hurricanes' sterling reputation with developing linemen under Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal.

"They have the best [offensive line] coach in the nation. Their head coach is with the linemen at all times, and it's a brotherhood there," Ford told 247Sports' Gaby Urrutia.  "They're gonna help me achieve my goals to make it to the next level and keep bettering me as a man."

The Ford news came down shortly after another Miami target, four-star wide receiver Jaden Upshaw, committed to Texas A&M. Miami now has ten commitments in the 2027 recruiting cycle and are currently ranked among the top five classes in the country.
