Donte Wright has been committed to Georgia since last June, but there's a long way to go in his recruitment and Mario Cristobal is making sure that the Miami Hurricanes will be in the discussion until the end.Â
The Hurricanes are likely to get their best chance to flip the five-star cornerback this summer when he takes an official visit to Coral Gables. This comes on the heel of recent news that Miami is one of the big favorites to land in-state elite offensive lineman Mark Matthews.Â

Donte Wright is working on an official visit to Miami
The date has yet to be set, but Wright has an official visit scheduled to Georgia for the final weekend of May and one scheduled for Oregon from June 19–21. It's likely the visit to Miami will fall somewhere in between those two dates. Wright is also looking at some other visits, including one to Oklahoma.
This is good news for Miami, not only because Wright is an elite prospect, but because the Hurricanes are currently without a cornerbacks coach after Zac Etheridge left the program to join Mike LaFleur's staff with the Arizona Cardinals. Cristobal has yet to make an announcement on the next coach, but Wright's interest shows that he has a good idea of the Hurricanes' plans or very simply trusts them to make the right decision. This is important because Wright's relationship with Georgia coach Kirby Smart and cornerbacks coach Donte Williams is very strong and will be a tough bond to break.
Cristobal is continuing Miami's success of recruiting in California over the years. In the most recent recruiting class, the Hurricanes signed four-star wide receiver Vince Spatford (Mission Viejo) and four-star tight end Israel Briggs (Clovis).
Miami is beginning to turn up the heat in recruiting for the 2027 class. The Hurricanes currently have four commitments and a top-20 ranked group according to 247Sports.Â
