Miami quarterback Carson Beck has been cleared to participate in all summer activities and is near 100 percent after elbow surgery, according to head coach Mario Cristobal, as told to Andrea Adelson of ESPN. Adelson spoke to Cristobal at the ACC spring meetings in Amelia Island.

Cristobal told Adelson that Beck has been throwing for the past three weeks as part of his rehabilitation. ACC Network analyst Eric MacLain spoke with Cristobal on his podcast in late April to update where Beck was previously in his rehabilitation process.

Miami will begin summer workouts next week, per Adelson. Beck missed spring practice as he recovered from surgery on his torn ulnar collateral ligament. Summer workouts will provide Beck with his first opportunity to throw to Miami receivers "as part of organized team activities," per Adelson.

Miami added wide receivers Tony Johnson from Cincinnati and Keelan Marion from BYU to join C.J. Daniels from LSU in the transfer portal. Beck will work with the new Miami WRs and the young returning WR corps, as the Hurricanes have to replace their top six receivers from 2024.

"He's good to go...He's exceeding every benchmark."

Adelson mentioned in her article that ESPN NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. had Beck rated as the fifth-best QB in the 2025 NFL Draft. Beck's injury and inconsistent performance in 2024 played a part in his decision to transfer to Miami instead of entering the 2025 NFL Draft.

Some 2025 NFL mock drafts had Beck as the projected top pick during the 2024 offseason. Beck has an opportunity to improve his projection in the 2026 NFL Draft with a redemptive season with Miami in 2025, similarly to how Cam Ward transferred from Washington State and became the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans.
