Mark Fletcher Jr. set the College Football Playoff career rushing record when he finished with 517 yards in the four Miami games through their run that fell just short of a National Championship. Fletcher Jr. was the undeniable Most Valuable Player for Miami in the CFP run.
Fletcher Jr. ran 17 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns as Miami lost 27-21 to Indiana in the National Championship Game on Monday night at Hard Rock Stadium. Fletcher Jr. finished the 2025 season with 226 carries for 1,202 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The 1,202 rushing yards are the sixth most for a single season in Miami history. Fletcher Jr. is tied for seventh in Miami history with the 12 rushing touchdowns. Fletcher Jr. is now seventh in Miami history with 2,313 career rushing yards and tied for fifth with 26 TDs on the ground.
Fletcher Jr. will enter the 2026 season 1,206 rushing yards behind Duke Johnson for the Miami career record and nine rushing TDs behind Stephen McGuire to set the Hurricanes all-time mark. The run by Fletcher Jr. in the playoffs was remarkable after he missed two games earlier this season.

The Future is bright
Fletcher Jr. announced he is returning for his senior season. With Malachi Toney only a freshman, Miami should continue to be dynamic on offense in 2026. Toney finished with 10 receptions for 122 yards and one TD, with 101 of those yards after the catch, in the National Championship game.
Miami also returns backup RBs CharMar Brown and Girard Pringle Jr. in 2026. They will run behind what will be a rebuilt offensive line. If Fletcher Jr. can build on his incredible run during the four CFP games, he will have an opportunity to be a major Heisman Trophy candidate during the 2026 season.
