Miami is 11th nationally in the "Blue-Chip Ratio 2025: These 18 college football teams can actually win the national championship" written by Bud Elliott and published by CBS Sports on Thursday. The Miami roster has a blue chip ratio of 564 percent.

When including transfers, the Miami blue chip ratio drops to 57 percent. Alabama and Ohio State have the highest blue-chip ratios on their 2025 rosters at 89 percent. Ohio State has the highest blue-chip ratio when including transfers at 82 percent, with Alabama second at 78 percent.

Miami has the highest percentage of blue-chip players on its roster in the ACC. Clemson is second in the ACC with a blue-chip ratio of 55 percent, both with and without transfers included. Clemson added three transfers to its 2025 roster.

Florida State is third in the ACC and tied with Tennessee nationally with a 54 percent blue chip ratio. The Seminoles have a 50 percent blue chip ratio when transfers are added in. "Tennessee and Florida State return to the fold for the first time in a while" according to Elliott.

Florida, Florida State and Notre Dame are the only teams on the 2025 Miami schedule with blue-chip ratios above 50 percent. Nine of the 18 teams with a blue chip ratio above 50 percent are in the SEC. The Big 10 is second with five teams that have a blue-chip ratio of at least 50 percent.

Notre Dame is eighth nationally with a blue chip ratio of 73 percent and is seventh when transfers are included at 64 percent. Auburn and Florida are tied with Miami with a blue chip ratio of 64 percent. Florida and Miami also have identical 57 percent blue-chip ratios when transfers are included.

Miami has six five-stars, 25 four-stars and 27 three-star players, with the rest of the players without ratings on 247Sports rankings. Edge rusher Hayden Lowe is the only 247Sports five-star signee in the 2025 Miami class. Miami has 11 four-star signees in the 2025 class for a blue chip ratio of 60 percent.

The blue chip ratio has been an accurate predictor of national champions since 2011. Every national champion since 2011 has had a blue chip ratio of at least 50 percent. Only three national champions since 2011 have been below 60 percent and another three were between 60 and 69 percent.

The other eight national champions since 2011 have had a blue-chip ratio of at least 71 percent. Mario Cristobal is building the Miami roster to compete with the perennial contenders for national championships. The 2026 Miami class currently has one five-star commit and nine four-stars out of 20 commits.
