Miami 2025 class up 1 spot following 4-star WR Malachi Toney re-commitment
Four-star 2025 wide receiver Malachi Toney re-committed to Miami as initially reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3 on Monday. Toney de-committed from Miami on October 3 before reasserting his pledge to the Hurricanes on Monday. Miami moved up one spot to 11th in the 2025 247 Composite Team Rankings.
Toney visited Alabama shortly before his Decommittment and was being recruited by other schools following his Disconnection from Miami. Toney did not take any Visits after de-committing from Miami, as listed in his 247Sports- or On3-Profiles. Miami now has three WRs committed in the 2025 Class.
Three-star WR Daylyn Upshaw was committed to Miami when Toney de-committed. Four-star WR Joshua Moore flipped from Florida to Miami following the de-commitment from the Hurricanes. Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U reported on Monday that Moore, Toney and Upshaw all visited Miami for the 36-14 win over Florida State on Saturday.
Toney who reclassified from the 2025 class earlier this year has 138 receptions for 2,358 and 28 touchdowns in three seasons for American Heritage. Toney is having his best season in 2024 with 54 receptions for 964 yards and 12 TDs.
The 247 Sports composite rankings have Toney as the 213th prospect, 25th prospect and 32nd player in Florida in the 2025 class. Toney gives Miami six players from South Florida in the 2025 class. Miami is on pace to sign the best class in the ACC for the third consecutive year.
Mario Cristobal has taken control of the ACC in recruiting with his first three full classes at Miami. Toney will join a Miami roster with 2024 blue-chip WR signees Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and Joshisa Trader. The offensive numbers Miami is putting up under coordinator Shannon Dawson should be attractive to WRs.
Miami is first nationally averaging 46.8 points per game, 560.8 total yards per game and is second averaging 366.8 passing yards per game. There will be opportunities for WRs with Miami in 2025. Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo are in their last year of eligibility this season.
