The losses of wide receivers Sam Brown, Jacolby George, Isaiah Horton and Xavier Restrepo off the 2024 roster made signing wideouts critical for Miami in the 2025 class. Miami signed consensus four-star WRs Josh Moore and Malachi Toney and three-star Daylyn Upshaw in the 2025 class.
The additions of Moore, Toney and Upshaw provide Miami with critical depth entering the 2025 season. Miami returns 2024 signees Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and JoJo Trader and rising junior Ray Ray Joseph and Shermar Kirk at WR in 2024. C.J. Daniels arrives as a projected starter after transferring from LSU.
Moore is the highest-rated of the three 2025 Miami signees at WR and brings exceptional size at 6'4. Miami needed size to replace Horton who transferred to Alabama. Joseph is the projected replacement for Restrepo in the slot with Toney the likely backup. Upshaw seems like more of a developmental player.
Upshaw produced beyond his recruiting ranking with 160 receptions for 2,764 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns in the last three high school seasons. Toney is an incredibly versatile player who when adding all-purpose yards to passing had over 1,900 yards as a senior in 2024.
Miami signed Moore after he was previously committed to Florida. Moore is the 114th prospect, 16th WR and 18th out of West Broward. At 6'4 and 205 pounds, Moore provides Miami with excellent size on the outside. Moore was highly recruited by multiple other power conference programs.
Upshaw is the 488th prospect, 74th WR and 21st player in Alabama out of Phenix City Center where was is coached by Patrick Nix, the father of Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix. Upshaw has 151 career receptions for 2,635 receiving yards and 34 TDs. Miami will have opportunities at WR with multiple losses at the position entering 2025.
Toney is the 366th prospect, 51st WR and 50th player in Florida in the 2025 class out of American Heritage. Toney who reclassified to the 2025 class from 2026 had 142 career receptions for 2,402 receiving yards and 28 TDs. In 2024 Toney added 224 rushing yards and one TD and 524 passing yards and another score.
