Miami will play at Notre Dame on November 7, 2026, according to broadcast industry sources via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Miami has no intention of pulling out of the game regardless of what the decision is with the selection of at-large teams for the College Football Playoff.
Miami cannot cancel the games with Notre Dame, as it is a part of the Fighting Irish's scheduling agreement with the ACC. In addition to playing at Notre Dame in 2026, the Hurricanes will play in South Bend in 2028, 2031 and 2037. Miami will host Notre Dame in 2032 and 2034.
Miami hosts Florida A&M on September 12 and Central Michigan on September 26 as the ACC switches to a nine-game conference schedule. South Carolina was dropped from Miami's future schedule when the ACC decided to expand to a nine-game conference schedule.
Miami will host Boston College, Florida State, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech and play at Clemson, North Carolina, Stanford and Wake Forest. One ACC team will play eight league games each season with 17 teams in the conference. Miami's ninth 2026 ACC game has not been determined.
Canes and Notre Dame finalize date for next year's game. UM says it won't back out..... CFP committee will consider result if Notre Dame wins and disregard result otherwise. https://t.co/89kIIhCcEr

The game at Notre Dame, being later in the season, should work to Miami's favor. If the Hurricanes had defeated the Fighting Irish in the first weekend of November this season, the outcome and CFP rankings would have had a very different tenor.
Miami will have a chance to build its resume early and enhance it with a win late in the season at Notre Dame. The Hurricanes and Fighting Irish should continue to be among the best teams nationally entering the 2026 season.
Miami at Notre Dame on November 7 will also allow the hype for the game to build throughout the 2026 season. No matter what happens in the final College Football Playoff rankings and selections on Sunday, the committee set itself up for a controversial decision, adding to Miami at Notre Dame in 2026.
