The good news keeps coming in for the Miami Hurricanes out on the recruiting trail. Tight end Jack Nickel, who spent one season at Alabama-Birmingham and two with Michigan State, is transferring to Miami with two seasons of eligibility remaining per Hayes Fawcett of On3. Nickel is the brother of 2025 Miami quarterback signee Luke Nickel. The elder Nickel had one reception for six yards with UAB in 2024.

The On3 transfer portal rankings list Nickel as the No. 1,696 transfer and 95th TE in the 2025 portal. Nickel has fallen in the class rankings between his school evaluations and entering the 2024 transfer portal to his ranking in the 2025 transfer portal.

On3 listed Nickel as the No. 633 prospect, 37th TE and 65th player in Georgia in the 2023 high school class. Nickel was the 1,251st transfer and 51st TE in the 2024 transfer class. Nickel was a productive player over his four high school seasons at Milton High in Alpharetta.

In four seasons at Milton, the new Miami tight end had 85 receptions for 1,022 yards and 11 touchdowns. At 6-4 and 260 pounds, Jack Nickel provides Miami with depth, experience in a college program and good size at TE.

Veteran TE Jack Nickell has committed to Mario Cristobal and Miami

Nickel is the second TE Miami added in the 2025 transfer portal class. Former Tulane TE Alex Bauman committed to Miami earlier this month. Bauman has 63 career receptions for 610 yards and 13 TDs in three seasons with Tulane. Bauman and rising sophomore Elija Lofton project to be the top two Miami TEs in 2025.

Miami signed Luke Gilbert and Brock Schott as TEs in the 2025 class. Jackson Carver also returns for Miami in 2025, entering his third season in the program. Miami has replaced the depth they lost at TE with Elijah Arroyo entering the 2025 NFL Draft, Cam McCormick completing his eligibility and Riley Williams transferring to Oregon State.
