Five-star shooting guard Brandon McCoy has cut his recruitment to four schools, and Jai Lucas' Miami Hurricanes made the list alongside Alabama, Michigan and Arkansas.
McCoy is one of only two uncommitted five-stars still left on the board in the class.

Brandon McCoy cuts list to four with Miami still in the mix
McCoy, a Sierra Canyon standout from Chatsworth, California, is ranked No. 14 nationally in the 247Sports rankings. Miami got McCoy on campus for an official visit on Sept. 19.
McCoy was named the 2025-26 MaxPreps California Player of the Year after leading Sierra Canyon to a 30-1 record and the CIF Open Division state championship. Over the full season, McCoy averaged 19.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals while shooting 61.8% from the field. In the state title game against Salesian College Prep, he finished with 20 points, six rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
At St. John Bosco in 2024-25, McCoy averaged 16.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 3.6 assists per game. He missed part of the season because of injury but was still named a MaxPreps Junior All-America honorable mention after that season.
As a sophomore, McCoy was named MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year after averaging 18.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game and helping lead the Braves to a Division I state championship. He has also won gold medals at the 2023 FIBA U16 Americas Championship, the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup and the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup. At the 2024 U17 World Cup, McCoy was named the event's Best Defensive Player after averaging 10.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.4 steals.
McCoy also played in the McDonald's All American Game on Tuesday night. He finished with five points, five assists and one rebound in 14:38, and his five assists were tied for the game high.
Lucas already has a 2026 commitment in five-star power forward Caleb Gaskins, who ranks No. 20 nationally in the 247Sports rankings. If Miami could somehow pair Gaskins with McCoy, that would give Lucas and the Canes a huge boost.
