Miami and Mario Cristobal appear to be on the verge of missing out on the top two transfer quarterbacks, Brendan Sorsby of Cincinnati and Sam Leavitt of Arizona State. The Hurricanes are expected to pursue a transfer QB to replace starter Carson Beck.
Sorsby has been predicted to transfer to Texas Tech by Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong of On3. Sorsby left his LSU visit and per Pete Thamel of ESPN, "He's told coaches at Texas Tech and LSU that he'll make a decision tonight (Sunday)."
Sorsby completed 61.6 percent of his pass attempts for 2,800 yards, 27 touchdowns and five interceptions with 580 rushing yards and another nine scores. Sorsby earned second-team All-Big XII. Before playing the last two seasons at Cincinnati, Sorsby spent two years at Indiana.
Sorsby is the sixth-ranked transfer QB by On3, second from 247Sports and the top player in the portal by ESPN. Sorsby was the 66th-ranked QB in the 247Sports composite rankings as a high school prospect in the 2022 class.

On3 posted on Sunday that LSU is expected to host Leavitt this week, per a report from Nakos and Wiltfong. The visit to LSU comes after Leavitt skipped his visit to Texas Tech. Leavitt has also been linked to Kentucky since the Transfer Portal Opened on Friday.
Leavitt had season-ending foot surgery in October after a Lisfranc injury. In two seasons at Arizona State, Leavitt completed 61.3 percent of his pass attempts for 4,513 yards, 34 touchdowns and nine interceptions with 743 rushing yards and 10 scores.
Leavitt played one season at Michigan State before transferring to Arizona State. Leavitt is the top QB and second overall transfer in the On3 rankings, top overall player in the portal by 247Sports and third overall and the second QB as rated by ESPN.
With the third-ranked QB, Drew Mestemaker, committed to Oklahoma State to join his head coach, Eric Morris from North Texas, the highest-rated transfer signal caller remaining is D.J. Lagway of Florida. Dylan Raiola of Nebraska is another transfer QB to watch.
