Miami AP Top 25 ranking consistent with Coaches and other polls

Miami is 10th the Associated Press top 25 rankings released on Monday which is consistent with the USA Today Coaches poll.

The Associated Press ranked Miami 10th in their top 25 that was released on Monday. Miami is also ranked 10th in the preseason USA Today Coaches poll. The Hurricanes received 899 points in the preseason AP Top 25. Miami is up eight spots from where they finished in the final 2024 AP Top 25.

Miami began the 2024 season 19th in the AP Top 25. SMU is 16th as the only other ACC team in the AP Top 25. Louisville is 29th nationally, listed among others receiving votes, Georgia Tech is 31st, Florida State 40th, Duke 41st and Pittsburgh 46th as the other ACC teams to receive votes.

Notre Dame, who Miami hosts in the season opener on August 31, is sixth in the AP Top 25 with 1,325 points and Florida is 15th with 626 points. Miami hosts Florida on September 20. LSU is ninth, one spot ahead of Miami in the AP Top 25, with 1,174 points.

Arizona State is one spot behind Miami in 11th with 791 points. Miami and Notre Dame is one of three matchups in the opening weekend between top 10 teams. Clemson and LSU and top-ranked Texas and third-ranked Ohio State also play in their season openers.

This is the second consecutive season, the fourth in the last five years and the sixth in the last eight that Miami is ranked in the preseason AP Top 25. Miami will open the season ranked in the top 10 for the first time since they began the 2018 season eighth in the preseason AP Top 25.

Miami has been ranked in the preseason AP Top 25 35 times. The Hurricanes were first ranked in the preseason AP Top 25 in 1955 when they began the season ninth nationally. Miami has its longest streak of being ranked in the preseason AP Top 25 of 12 years from 1986 through 1997.
