Miami interim head coach Bill Courtney will not be in attendance for Saturday's game at Louisville according to the Hurricanes' official basketball X account. Assistant coach Kotie Kimble will move one seat up on the bench and be the acting head coach on Saturday versus Louisville.
Kimble has been on the Miami coaching staff since April 2022. Kimble started his coaching career as a student assistant at Coastal Carolina in 2007. After his time at Coastal Carolina, Kimble served as an assistant coach at North Carolina-Asheville. Kimble then spent five seasons at William and Mary before joining the staff at Miami.
In between Miami and William and Mary, Kimble spent four seasons on the staff at Charlotte. Kimble was an elite recruiter at Charlotte who helped the 49ers sign two-time first-team All-Conference USA player Jahmir Young who was the 2020 Freshman of the Year in the League and later transferred to Maryland.
As an assistant at Miami, Kimble is credited with being the primary recruiter for freshman guard Austin Swartz who is from Concord, North Carolina, a suburb of Charlotte. Swartz is averaging 5.6 points per game this season. Jahil Bethea, Swartz and Divine Ugochukwu made up the seventh-best 2024 class nationally.

Assistant coach Kotie Kimble will serve as acting head coach for the game.
In addition to Swartz, Miami also has forward Brandon Johnson from Raleigh on their roster from North Carolina as Kimble spent his entire coaching career in the Carolinas before being hired by Jim Larranaga. After Larranaga retired in December, Kimble has appeared on the post-game shows on WQAM.
Courtney was previously the coach who spoke with Miami play-by-play announcer Joe Zagacki on the Hurricanes radio network. Kimble is a young coach who seems destined for a head coaching job someday. The task of winning at Louisville who is 17-6 overall and 10-2 in the ACC will be difficult.
