Miami travels to Louisville after their bye in what is projected as the toughest game for the Hurricanes during the second half of the 2024 regular season.

Miami will begin the second half of the 2024 regular season at Louisville on Saturday. The ESPN Football Power Index projects Louisville to be the most difficult opponent for Miami in the second half of the regular season. Miami is given a 55.4 percent chance to win at Louisville on Saturday.

Louisville ended a two-game losing streak with a 24-20 win at Virginia last Saturday. Tyler Shough threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Jamari Johnson with 1:55 remaining in the game to give Louisville the win. Miami is coming off the second-biggest comeback in program history over California two weeks ago.

Miami trailed California 35-10 in the third quarter and 38-18 in the fourth quarter before rallying for a 39-38 win. After two emotional comeback wins and a cross-country trip to Berkeley, the bye came at a perfect time for Miami. Miami has a second bye the weekend of November 16 before the final two regular season games.

Miami at Louisville features two of the top five scoring offenses and defenses in the ACC. Expect Miami at Louisville to be one of the marquee games of the regular season. After Louisville, Miami has at least a 70 percent chance to win in their remaining five games per the FPI.

Miami at Louisville injuries

On Monday, Mario Cristobal announced that left tackle Jalen Rivers is expected to return for Miami against Louisville. Cornerback Damari Brown, who was injured in the season-opening win at Florida, is still expected to be out. Running back Maurice Turner and wide receiver Jimmy Calloway are questionable for Louisville.

Miami at Louisville series history

Miami has 11 wins, four losses and one tie all-time versus Louisville. Louisville won 38-31 in 2023 to earn the Schnellenberger Trophy. The Schnellenberger Trophy is named for Howard Schnellenberger who led Miami to the 1983 National Championship and coached Louisville to a win over Alabama in the 1991 Fiesta Bowl.

Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm played quarterback for Louisville in that game. The win was significant for Schnellenberger who once coached at Alabama under legendary head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. Louisville has won four of the past six games versus Miami.
