SMU On3 reporter Billy Embody reported they will kick off at noon Eastern Daylight Time on ESPN against Miami on Saturday. Saturday will be the second afternoon kickoff for Miami (morning Central Daylight Time) and the earliest that the Hurricanes will play during the 2025 season.
Miami at SMU is a de facto elimination game in the race for a berth in the ACC Championship Game. Seven teams in the ACC have one loss entering November. Miami is in seventh in the ACC with three wins and one loss. SMU is tied for fourth in the ACC with Duke and Louisville with 3-1 records.
SMU lost 13-12 at Wake Forest on Saturday. That was first regular season ACC loss for SMU after 11 consecutive wins. SMU had won 20 consecutive conference games that included the 2023 season in the American Athletic Conference.
Miami improved to 6-1 with a 42-7 win over Stanford. The Hurricanes outscored the Cardinal 35-0 in the second half. Miami was dominant defensively after allowing a touchdown on the opening drive. Stanford gained 70 yards on its last 10 drives against Miami.

Miami and North Carolina are the only ACC teams that have played three games. Georgia Tech leads the ACC with five wins and no losses. Virginia is a game behind Georgia Tech with four wins and no losses. Georgia Tech, Miami and Virginia do not play each other during the 2025 regular season.
After SMU, Miami plays three consecutive games against teams with at least two losses in the ACC. The game at Pittsburgh to finish the regular season could decide a berth in the ACC Championship game for either team.
Miami and SMU will play for the second time ever on Saturday. SMU beat Miami 7-3 in Dallas in 1965 in the only game between the Mustangs and the Hurricanes. SMU beat Stanford 34-10 on October 11 in the only mutual opponent with Miami ahead of their game on Saturday
