In his weekly newsletter, the former CFP committee member and current Miami athletic director Dan Radakovich let his voice be heard.

"I served on the CFP committee for four years, so l know firsthand what a difficult job it is. You spend weeks ranking teams, discussing strengths and weaknesses, parsing through data points and — most importantly — watching games. Remember those two-loss teams I mentioned? We beat one of them. I was there — many of you were, too. It was an electric night at Hard Rock Stadium when Miami defeated Notre Dame to kickstart this terrific season. Moments like that are what makes college football such a compelling sport. Let's ensure those moments matter."

Miami-Notre Dame CFP Debate

Notre Dame sits No. 9 in the CFP rankings, while Miami is No. 12, even though the Hurricanes beat the Irish 27-24 at Hard Rock Stadium in the season opener. Radakovich is clearly pointing at the Irish and the cluster of other two-loss contenders in that 8-13 range. He is also clearly referencing the big win in week 1 and how it should matter to the committee.

Miami is 10-2 (same as Notre Dame), with eight of those wins by 17 points or more, and a 151-41 scoring edge over the last four games. Miami ranks 12th nationally in total defense and 29th in total offense.

Miami did not qualify for the ACC title game and Notre Dame is an Independant, so neither school will be playing football this week. With the resumes set, it is now up to the committee to give the debate another look to see if they have it right. The committee has honored the head-to-head result between plenty of other teams, so with that in mind, there could a switch that happens if they can come to their senses.
