Miami rallied after Duke took 4-0 and 5-2 leads, but the Blue Devils blew the game open with a six-run sixth inning on their way to a 13-3 win in Coral Gables on Friday night. Duke has won five consecutive games over Miami dating back to the 2024 season.

Miami cut the lead in half with a Max Galvin home run and Daniel Cuvet RBI single to make the score 4-2.

Miami and Duke exchanged runs in the fifth before the Blue Devils six-run outburst in the sixth. After another hit batter with the bases loaded, Hyde hit a grand slam that was followed by a solo HR by Sam Harris to put Duke in front 11-3. Duke added a pair of runs in the ninth for the 13-3 win.

Hyde had two hits in four at-bats with two runs scored and six runs batted in, Ben Miller had three hits in five at-bats with a run scored and two RBIs and Winslow had two hits and two RBIs for Duke. Four Duke pitchers helped Duke earn the 10-run victory in game one of the weekend series.

Miami had five hits and seven walks on Friday night but left seven men on base. J.D. Arteaga used eight Miami pitchers on Friday. Griffin Hugus had his worst start of the season, lasting 3.1 innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits, with three walks and two strikeouts.
