Miami opens its 2025 regular season with a three-game series vs. Niagara starting on Friday night at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Stadium with a 7 p.m. ET first pitch. The Hurricanes were picked 11th out of 16 teams in the 2025 ACC preseason poll. Miami missed the NCAA Tournament in 2024 for only the third time since 1974.
Niagara, who won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 2024, was picked sixth in their 2025 preseason poll. No Niagara players were named to the preseason All-MAAC team. Matt Spatafora is entering his 14th season with Niagara, but his first as the Purple Eagles' head coach.
Sophomore third baseman Daniel Cuvet is a consensus preseason All-American and on the watch list for the Golden Spikes Award that honors the best player nationally. Cuvet set a Miami freshman record with 24 home runs and led all freshmen nationally in 2024 with 75 runs batted in.
Miami had a lot of turnover during the offseason with only eight players returning entering J.D. Arteaga's second season. The Hurricanes added 15 freshmen and 14 transfers to its 2025 roster. Many of the incoming transfers were added to protect Cuvet in the lineup.
