The University of Miami men's basketball program has announced the hiring of Luke Testani as its new video coordinator, bringing back a familiar face with a strong background in analytics and player development.

Testani previously served as a graduate assistant for the Hurricanes from 2020 to 2022, during which time he contributed to the team's significant improvement, culminating in a 26-11 record and an Elite Eight appearance in the 2021–22 NCAA Tournament.

After his initial stint at Miami, Testani joined Iona College, where he worked as the program's video coordinator from 2023 to 2024. He was then promoted to Director of Analytics/Player Personnel for the 2024–25 season, overseeing statistical analysis to assist the coaching staff with player development and recruiting support.

Head coach Jai Lucas expressed enthusiasm about Testani's return, stating, "Having been part of Miami’s Elite Eight run as a graduate assistant in 2022, Luke knows what it takes to achieve at the highest level. He has a positive attitude and a strong work ethic, both of which make him a great addition to our staff."

His experience and familiarity with the program are expected to be valuable assets as the Hurricanes prepare for the upcoming season. Coach Lucas has been vocal about wanting to keep homegrown talent within the Miami program. When he said that during his introductory press conference many initially thought he was referring to high school prospects, but it seems like that has also reached his coaching staff. Lucas also hired local prep coach from Miami, Andrew Moran, to be an assistant on his staff.

A native of New York, Testani earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Management from the University of Michigan in 2019, where he served as a four-year manager under coaches John Beilein and Juwan Howard. He later obtained a master's degree in Sport Administration from the University of Miami in 2022.
