Miami's Cam Ward rightfully among top QBs in the nation per draft guru Mel Kiper Jr.

He may be one and done with the Miami Hurricanes football team, but what quarterback Cam Ward was able to accomplish for this program was historic. Now, Ward is ready to make the leap to the NFL and he's easily one of the top signal-callers in the country.

There's going to be a long debate as to who is better - Ward or Shedeur Sanders? From our chair that's an easy call, but not everyone sees things that way. The list includes Mel Kiper Jr., an NFL Draft guru for ESPN.

Kiper just came out with his new list of Top 10 quarterbacks for the 2025 NFL Draft and he has Sanders at No. 1 and Ward at No. 2. Is Kiper spot on with this or did he get things flipped?

"Ward has an unorthodox delivery, but he throws with accuracy and velocity from different arm angles," Kiper said of Ward. "He displays solid game management traits, and while he had some ball security issues in 2023 at Washington State, that wasn't an issue in 2024. When things break down around him, Ward can extend plays with his legs, either throwing on the move or picking up first downs as a runner. To say Ward was a perfect fit with the Hurricanes might still be an understatement; I like his toughness, swagger and confidence."

This past season for head man Mario Cristobal, Ward was incredible with the ball in his hands, throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns. He made his way to Coral Gables after putting on a show for Washington State - Cristobal made him a priority in the transfer portal.

Plenty of people had a feeling Ward would put on a show for Miami, but he 100 percent exceeded expectations. Come late April, Ward will be hearing his name called early in the first round. He may not be the No. 1 overall pick, but he certainly belongs in that conversation.
