With the Miami Hurricanes playing their first Saturday game of the season, expect a nice recruiting presence at Hard Rock Stadium. One commit that is expected to be in the house is four-star offensive lineman Jatori Williams.
Williams has been in the rumor mill over recent days as he took a surprise trip to Auburn this past weekend to watch the Tigers take on the Florida Gators. It's no surprise that Auburn is interested in Williams. He's from Phenix City, Alabama, and the pull to remain in the state has to be high. But he has suggested that his commitment to Miami is solid, and this weekend is a great chance for him to remember why he wanted to play for the Hurricanes.

Miami must fend off Auburn for 4-star OL commit Jatori Williams
Williams, like every other commit in the Hurricanes' 2027 recruiting class, has publicly pledged his status as being "locked in," and clearly his visit to the Plains has some fans stuck in their feelings. For what it's worth, I don't think there's much there. Auburn is in a strange sort of build with Alex Golesh, and Miami has a reputation for building linemen that is tried and true. The next NFL lineman that comes from the Alex Golesh tree will be the first.
And can anyone blame Williams for wanting to get out to a big game close to home and soak in some of the sights, sounds and overall atmosphere? We have to remember that these recruits are fans just like we are. Many times I've got to games where I had no rooting interest in. Heck, he might have had some friends on one or both teams he wanted to watch in person. There are a million reasons and none of them mean that Williams is considering somewhere other than Miami.
And even if he is, do you know how many top recruits Miami is trying to flip right now? This thing goes both ways. It's called recruiting, and it isn't for the weak. Mario Cristobal already knows that.
Jatori Williams wants to be part of Miami's special recruiting class
Miami's class is ranked No. 2 overall by 247Sports and No. 3 on Rivals/On3. Coral Gables has basically because a haven for five-star recruits and blue-chip prospects, which the Hurricanes' class is filled with. Williams knows that Miami is hunting for championships, and he wants to be part of that.\
Williams could have gone anywhere he wanted. He's a top-100 national prospect and top five recruit at his position. Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia, Florida, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Oregon and a host of others offered, but he really wanted to be a Hurricane.
Besides, Williams and defensive ends coach Jason Taylor still have to go one-on-one in a pass-rush set to see who gets the rights to be called "JT."
