Edge rushers Hayden Lowe, Mykah Newton and Herbert Scroggins and defensive lineman Donte Simpson are the only 2025 Miami signees in the front four in the 2025 Miami class. Lowe is the top signee in the 2025 Miami class out of Westlake Village, California and one of the top-ranked players nationally in 2025.
Scroggins is another four-star edge rusher who adds to the 2024 class Miami signed that was the consensus top-ranked defensive line class nationally. Miami also signed three-star defensive tackle Donte Simpson in the 2025 class. Lowe and Scroggins could have a chance to compete for snaps in 2025.
Miami loses defensive linemen Elijah Alston, Tyler Baron, Simeon Barrow, CJ Clark and Marley Cook after this season. Louisiana Tech DL David Blay announced he is transferring to Miami last week. Expect Miami to continue adding depth through the transfer portal. Alston, Barrow and Baron transferred to Miami in the spring.
Akheem Mesidor has one season of eligibility left and has not decided to return or enter the NFL Draft public. Rueben Bain Jr. and Ahmad Moten give Miami a good foundation at edge rusher and defensive tackle. Miami needs development from the 2024 class on the DL.
