Miami freshman defensive lineman Donta Simpson was named to On3’s 2025 Preseason True Freshman All-American Team on Tuesday. On3 highlighted Simpson’s late-senior surge at Chaminade-Madonna and projected him among the nation’s most college-ready first-years.

"Last season saw Miami develop an underrated local prospect into a True Freshman All-American, in cornerback OJ Frederique. The Hurricanes could do the same this year with defensive lineman Donta Simpson. The South Florida native turned in a strong senior season at local powerhouse Chaminade-Madonna and could factor into Miami’s defensive line rotation this fall."
Charles Power

Listed at 6-foot-3, the true freshman stayed home after starring at Chaminade-Madonna, where he helped deliver a state title run. As a senior, Simpson totaled 43 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks, with three forced fumbles, two recoveries and a pick-six.

A season ago, cornerback O.J. Frederique earned True Freshman All-America recognition from On3 after allowing just 14 completions over 554 snaps, and he later landed on the Football Writers Association of America’s Freshman All-America team.

On3’s preseason list — compiled by Charles Power with Clark Brooks and Cody Bellaire — looks at true freshmen most likely to make immediate contributions nationally.
