Miami scored four runs in the first inning, added one in the second, two in the third and three in the fourth on their way to a 10-2 win over Georgia Tech on Sunday. Tate DeRias retired the first 10 batters of the game and did not allow a hit until the 13th hitter he faced on Sunday.
Daniel Cuvet got Miami on the board with an RBI single. Tanner Smith followed with a three-run home run to put Miami 4-0 in the first inning. Cuvet added another RBI single in the second to extend the lead to 5-0. A Michael Torres three-run HR widened the lead to 8-0 in the third.
Georgia Tech finally got on the board with a groundout in the fourth inning. Miami scored its last two runs when Evan Taveras walked with the bases loaded and Renzo Gonzalez added a sacrifice fly to increase the lead to 10-1. Kyle Lodise had an RBI single for Georgia Tech in the fifth to cut the deficit to 10-2 and close the scoring.
Seven Miami players had hits on Sunday. Jake Odgen, Max Galvin and Cuvet, the top three batters in the order, each had two hits on Sunday for Miami and combined for four runs scored. DeRias pitched 5.1 innings, allowing two earned runs with three walks and one strikeout to improve to 2-0.

Caden Spivey allowed five earned runs in two innings to take the loss to Georgia Tech. Alex Hernandez was the only player for Georgia Tech to finish with multiple hits. Miami improved to 24-17 overall with the win and evened its record in the ACC at 9-9. Miami, Virginia and Virginia Tech are now tied for eighth in the ACC.
Miami completed its eight-game homestand 7-1. Florida International will host Miami on Wednesday night. Miami is at Boston College for a three-game series next weekend. FIU has lost four straight games after getting swept at Kennesaw State this weekend. Boston College won two out of three versus Wake Forest this weekend.
