Miami dropped six spots to 21st nationally in the ESPN Football Power Index after the Hurricanes improved to 2-0 in 2025 with a 45-3 win over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday. Miami remains first among ACC teams and the only one in the top 25 of the ESPN FPI.
The Hurricanes are fourth nationally in strength of record, 32nd in strength of schedule, 55th in remaining strength of schedule, 12th in game control and 20th in average in-game probability. Miami is 30th nationally in efficiency, 22nd in offensive efficiency, 57th in defensive efficiency and 77th in special teams efficiency.
The ESPN FPI projects Miami to finish the 2025 season with 9.4 wins and 3.0 losses in its simulation. Miami is projected with a 2.3 percent chance to win out, a 99.5 percent chance to win six games and become bowl eligible, a 28.0 percent chance to win the ACC which is first and a 35.3 percent chance for a College Football Playoff berth.
Miami has the 11th best chance nationally to make the CFP per the ESPN FPI. The Hurricanes are 14th nationally with a 2.6 percent chance to make the CFP Championship Game and 15th with a 0.9 percent chance to win the title, according to the ESPN FPI.

South Florida, who Miami hosts on Saturday, moved up 17 spots in the ESPN FPI to 38th nationally after winning on Saturday at Florida. Miami hosts Florida on September 20. Florida fell 11 spots in the FPI after the loss to South Florida. Notre Dame, who is 10th in the ESPN FPI remains the highest-rated team on the 2025 Miami schedule.
Miami is favored in the ESPN FPI in every game for the remainder of the 2025 season. The ESPN FPI projects Miami with a 93.6 percent chance to beat Stanford, which is their highest for the remainder of the season. Miami is projected with a 54.5 percent chance to win at SMU which is the lowest remaining on the 2025 schedule.
