Miami fans are not thrilled with Carson Beck after one half against Texas A&M

With nearly one half of football done in College Station, there hasn't been much to write home about on offense for either time. Miami's longest play from scrimmage has been a 17-yard run from Mark Fletcher Jr. and Malachi Toney had a chance to get the Hurricanes on the board with a punt return, but he was caught by the Texas A&M safety Marcus Ratcliffe when it appeared the superstar freshman slowed down slightly.

But Carson Beck, who was brought to Miami for this exact situation, hasn't been good. The fifth-year senior has just 31 passing yards, has been sacked twice and almost lost a fumble.

Hurricane fans are basically done with Beck

The love-hate relationship Miami fans have had with Beck has been ongoing this season, but there was some optimism that Beck's strong four-game stretch to end the season would carry over into the playoffs. However, the high-profile transfer from Georgia has been shaky at best and doesn't look comfortable in the pocket.

Shannon Dawson is also taking the heat

The numbers on Miami's offense do not look good. The Hurricanes have just 68 total yards in the first half and two possessions that started around the red zone didn't go anywhere and resulted in two missed field goals.

As bad as Beck has been in the first half, Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson isn't doing him too many favors. There haven't been many easy options for Beck in the pass game and the Aggies pass rush is getting in the backfield at a high rate.

The good news is the game is scoreless at halftime and the Miami defense looks up to the challenge. It might only take a couple of scoring drives to escape College Station with a win. The Hurricanes have been awful on third down, going 1-fot-7.

Going into the half, Mario Cristobal suggested that Miami may try to focus more on the ground game in the second half.

"Being in third and long is not the answer against these guys," Cristobal said.
