Miami fans can circle their calendars as 4-star ATH sets commitment date

Five-star athlete Honor Fa'alave-Johnson, a San Diego Cathedral Catholic standout, is set to announce his commitment Saturday on CBS Sports HQ at 4:00 PM EST, and Miami remains in the final six alongside USC, Oregon, Texas, LSU and Notre Dame.

Fa'alave-Johnson was aiming for a summertime commitment and planned to take a hard look at all six finalists. Instead, the process has sped up in a hurry, and now one of the nation's most dynamic 2027 prospects is ready to come off the board before spring really gets rolling.

Prior to setting a commitment date, Fa'alave-Johnson had set a loaded visit schedule: Miami on March 5-7, Oregon on March 14-15, Texas on March 28-29, USC on April 4, LSU on April 18-19 and Notre Dame on April 24-25.

The 247Sports Composite ranks Fa'alave-Johnson No. 16 overall, No. 1 among athletes and No. 1 in California. As a junior in 2025, he ran for 1,532 yards and 23 touchdowns, caught 35 passes for 564 yards and seven scores, and added 40 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble on defense. He did all of this while leading Cathedral Catholic to an 11-3 record and a trip to the California 1-AA state championship game.

Miami does not appear to be entering decision day as the public favorite. On3's Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine currently gives USC a 72.5% chance to land Fa'alave-Johnson, with Oregon next at 25.3%. Miami is still listed among the schools in the mix on his 247Sports profile, but the prediction data shows this battle has leaned heavily toward the West Coast since the start.

With the commitment process speeding up, Miami most likely is on the outside looking in with Fa'alave-Johnson... but you never know how things might turn out.
