Four-star WR Malachi Lee released his final 12 schools that are contending for his services and Miami is among them. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Class of 2028 prospect from Virginia is a top 50 player in the Rivals300.
Lee is ranked No. 49 nationally and No. 8 among receivers in the Rivals300. He is Virginia's No. 1 player in that ranking. The 247Sports Composite has him at No. 40 overall and No. 8 at his position while ESPN ranks him No. 50 in its Junior 300.

Lee made his name at Westfield High School in Chantilly, just up the road from Centreville. As a sophomore in 2025 he caught 69 passes for 978 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also played in the secondary and intercepted seven passes. This offseason he transferred to Loudoun Sports Academy in Leesburg, where he will spend his junior year.
Lee is the highest-ranked Virginia receiver in the class, and the only ACC programs left on his board are Miami and in-state Virginia Tech.
It will be a tall task for Miami to take a prospect from James Franklin, but it might be a good time to try to enforce some recruiting dominance before the Hokies get back to where they used to be. Franklin came to Virginia Tech after being fired by Penn State and proceeded to flip what felt like their entire class.
It was one of the best hires from the last cycle and they will be in a completely different place in no time. So now is the time to try to steal some of the in-state prospects who would like a little more stability when they enter college.
