Miami is hosting five-star 2026 edge-rusher Anthony "Tank" Jones for the Notre Dame game on Sunday night, per Chad Simmons of On3. Jones has been committed to Oregon since July 31. On3 ranks Jones as the No. 22 prospect, No. 4 edge-rusher and top player in Alabama in the 2026 class.
Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Oregon and Texas A&M all hosted Jones for official visits in May and June. Oregon earned the commitment from Jones after being the penultimate official visit for Jones. Per Keegan Pope of Rivals, Jones committing to Oregon was surprising. Alabama was considered the favorite for a Jones commitment.
Jones is 6-2.5 and 245 pounds per On3. Per On3, Jones began his high school career as a linebacker before growing into an edge-rusher. The energy and physicality Jones plays with are what stand out from his On3 scouting report.
Per Rivals, Jones was the "state champion in the shot put (58-4.5 feet) and discus (161-5 feet) as a junior." Charles Power of Rivals stated Jones is a high-floor prospect who should be an early contributor in college.

"โThey showed a lot of hospitality...It was a great experience. I loved it....The coaching staff, players, coach JT (Jason Taylor), his knowledge and stuff like that...The atmosphere of the campus. I love it. All that plays a big part of why I love it."Anthony Jones via On3.
Jones also plays tight end and is utilized as a short-yardage ball carrier at St. Paul's Episcopal in Mobile, Ala. Five-star offensive tackle commit Jackson Cantwell is currently the only 2026 Miami commit ranked ahead of Jones in the Rivals Industry Rankings.
Cantwell is currently the only 2026 Miami commit inside the Rivals Top 100. The 2026 Miami class is currently 12th nationally in the Rivals Industry Rankings and is the top class in the ACC. There should be playing time available for Miami at edge-rusher in 2026.
Miami is likely to lose Rueben Bain to the 2026 NFL Draft and Akheem Mesidor is entering his final season of eligibility in 2025 as the starting edge-rushers for the Hurricanes. Miami defensive line coach Jason Taylor has proven to be an elite recruiter entering his third season on the Hurricanes' staff.
