Miami football Midseason Awards
Through six weeks, the Miami football team is near the top of the football world. At 6-0, they are currently the sixth-best team in the country according to the AP Top 25. They blew through their nonconference schedule and have played a couple of thrillers in their first two ACC games.
With the team off to its best start since they were 10-0 in 2017, it's worth looking at who has gotten them to this point thus far, with some midseason awards.
Team MVP: QB Cam Ward
As if there was any doubt, Cam Ward is the team's most valuable player. While he's no longer the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy according to Fanduel (Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty and Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter have jumped him in that regard), Ward still leads the entire country with 2,219 passing yards and 20 passing touchdowns.
Ward has certainly shown signs of being imperfect over the past few weeks with a couple of boneheaded turnovers, but he's more than made up for it with his late-game heroics. In the fourth quarter of the Cal game alone, Ward brought Miami back from the dead by recording 279 total yards and three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing).
With Ward leading the offense, Miami is truly never out of a game. He's been one of the best players in the country and arguably the best quarterback in the country.
