Best Freshman: CB OJ Frederique Jr.

It's hard to go against Jordan Lyle (239 rushing yards, three touchdowns, 7.2 yards per carry), who has looked great when on the field, but it's amazing what OJ Frederique Jr. has done this year. Lyle was a four-star recruit originally committed to Ohio State.

It's not a surprise that Lyle looked great when on the field. Frederique Jr., on the other hand, was a three-star recruit originally committed to West Virginia. His emergence has truly come out of nowhere.

Frederique Jr. has been one of the best true freshmen in the entire country, earning starter snap counts and locking down opposing receivers. Defensive coordinator Lance Guidry said it best when describing Frederique.

"He has the thing underneath your chest that you can't measure. Heart."
