When it comes to college football recruiting, anything can change at the drop of the hat. Just ask the Miami Hurricanes about that. On Saturday, 4-star cornerback Jaelen Waters surprised a lot of people, as he decided to back off his pledge to Florida.

The in-state cornerback had been committed to Billy Napier since June. However, it's looking like he has a different program in mind for his future. Right after the Waters news dropped, On3's Steve Wiltfong put in a prediction for him to commit to Miami. Is some breaking news coming shortly for head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff?

Miami and Mario Cristobal are expected to flip 4-star CB Jaelen Waters from Florida

This isn't the first time Waters has changed his mind. He was previously committed to Florida State as well, only to flip things to Florida. Now, it's looking like he's going to be ready to commit to his third program, with things looking good for the Canes.

Should that happen, you can go ahead and give a major assist to new Miami assistant Will Harris. Harris also made the move from Florida to Miami, joining Cristobal's staff earlier this week. He had built a strong relationship with Waters. The timing sure is interesting, isn't it?

With Harris leaving Florida and deciding to rock Canes gear instead, it has fully opened the door for Waters to join him in Coral Gables once the 2026 season arrives, should he make that call. Waters is an elite talent, ranked four stars, the No. 13 cornerback in the country and No. 20 prospect from Florida for his class. Soon enough, we'll find out if Waters will be adding his name to the 2026 commits list for Miami, but things sure seem to be trending in that direction.
