An eventful October will continue for 4-star tight end Gavin Mueller as he takes an unofficial visit to Miami this weekend.
The 6-foot-6, 250-pound prospect from South Elgin, Illinois, has been committed to Colorado since May, but he received offers from Miami, Auburn and Alabama over the past few weeks.

What has brought about this recent interest in Mueller? Well, for starters, he's having an amazing senior season and just wrecking the competition. In his game last week against Elgin, Mueller had five touchdowns in the first half and six overall.
Miami is the first unofficial visit that Mueller had been reported to take this season. Before his commitment to Colorado, the tight end took visits to Wisconsin and LSU before deciding on the Buffaloes. Rivals recruiting writer Greg Smith believes that Mueller could be a threat to flip.
"There was a strong early relationship built [with Colorado], but sources say there are several schools called to test how strong his commitment is," Smith wrote.
With the Early Signing Period right around the corner in early December, now is the last chance for programs to jump in on prospects that they are trying to get more intel on or trying to flip. If Mueller has a good trip to Miami this weekend, an official visit could be coming soon.
My thoughts: Mueller is an intriguing athlete
It's hard to judge some things based on the competition. I have a feeling it's not great competition, but Mueller looks like a man among boys, and he's dominating the field like a top recruit is supposed to.
In the six-touchdown game, he's primarily doing his work as a wildcat quarterback, holding the ball on zone reads and just overwhelming the defenses. But it's the tight end clips that get me excited because he's got hands, and he not only has the speed to get away from the defense, but he'll also run defenders over if necessary.

I think Miami needs to use their tight ends more, and that's going to be something that the staff has to prove to Mueller they are willing to do. It'll be interesting to see how aggressive Alabama is in this recruitment too. I doubt Auburn is a threat since Hugh Freeze probably won't have a job past the Iron Bowl, but the Hurricanes are going to make Colorado sweat this recruitment out.
