Three-star 2026 interior offensive lineman Canon Pickett, the brother of Miami redshirt freshman defensive lineman Booker Pickett Jr. and son of Booker Sr., who also played for the Hurricanes, committed to spending his collegiate career in Coral Gables on Tuesday.
Pickett is the 468th prospect, 43rd IOL and 66th player in Florida in the 247Sports 2026 composite out of Tampa Tech. At 6'4" and 320 pounds, Pickett has college-ready size on the interior offensive line. Miami beat out Clemson and Florida for the commitment from Pickett.
The commitment from Pickett came after his official visit to Miami this past weekend. Pickett is the 12th Miami commit and the sixth offensive lineman in the 2026 class. Over 80 programs offered Pickett a scholarship, per 247Sports, with the majority in power conferences.
Miami moves from 13th to ninth nationally in the 247Sports composite rankings with the addition of Pickett in the 2026 class. Pickett ranks ninth of the 12 2026 Miami commits. Miami offensive line coach Alex Mirabal was the primary recruiter for Pickett, as expected.

Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U projects that Pickett can play center or either guard spot. Pickett could have a chance to contribute as a freshman. Projected 2025 Miami starting center James Brockermeyer and guards Anez Cooper and Ryan Rodriguez are all entering their senior seasons.
Starting left tackle Markel Bell is also a senior and junior right tackle Francis Mauigoa is expected to leave for the 2026 NFL Draft. All of the offensive linemen on the projected 2025 Miami depth chart beyond the first team have eligibility remaining beyond the 2025 season.
Once Pickett is enrolled, he will have an opportunity to line up across from his brother on the Greentree Practice Fields and the Soffer Indoor Practice Facility for Miami. The commitment from Pickett continues the emphasis for Miami on the OL under head coach Mario Cristobal and Mirabal.
