Miami received their third commitment in the 2026 class from four-star legacy cornerback Camdin Portis on Sunday. Portis is obviously the son of Miami Sports Hall of Famer and 2001 National Champion Clinton Portis. Miami has the 21st-ranked 2026 class.

Portis is the 291st-ranked prospect, 25th CB and 16th player in North Carolina in the 2026 class from Charlotte Myers Park High School. Three-star quarterback Dereon Coleman and four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell are also committed to Miami in the 2026 class.

Portis has taken unofficial visits to Miami, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Maryland, Mississippi and Ohio State in order per his On3 profile. Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U reported that Portis committed to Miami after visiting for the Florida State game on Saturday.

Urrutia quoted Portis saying he chose Miami because of the system fit, how he will be used as a corner and nickel back, not because of his legacy status. Cornerbacks coach Chevis Jackson is the primary recruiter for Portis and defensive coordinator and safeties coach has been his secondary contact per On3.

Portis has 19 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and a quarterback hurry in 2024. At 6'0 and 165 pounds, Portis will need time to fill out in a strength and conditioning program. Miami loses defensive backs Darryl Porter Jr. and Mishael Powell after the 2024 season.

Junior defensive backs Dyoni Hill, Jadais Richard and Isaiah Taylor will complete their eligibility after the 2026 season. Other Miami DBs like injured starting CB Damari Brown will be eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft and could choose to leave Miami. Expect Miami to lose other DBs to the transfer portal after the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Miami has an elite group of DBs committed to the 2025 class. Three four-star CBs and one safety plus a three-star CB are committed to Miami for 2025. The secondary is the next unit of priority for Mario Cristobal and his staff after they built elite units on the line of scrimmage in their first three Miami classes.
