With Miami headed to the College Football Playoff national championship game, Robert Griffin III dropped a post on X and asked a question that looked completely past Miami.

"Dear College Football Fans, this is a safe space. Is Indiana the greatest college football team ever?" Griffin wrote, framing the title-game buildup as an Indiana-only conversation.

RGIII is ready to have a conversation about Indiana

Indiana is 15-0 and coming off a 56-22 Peach Bowl semifinal blowout of Oregon that sent the Hoosiers to the title game for the first time. Quarterback Fernando Mendoza, a Miami native, has become the face of the program, along with head coach Curt Cignetti. Indiana won its first Big Ten title since 1967, beat Ohio State for the first time since 1988 and produced its first Heisman winner in Mendoza.

In addition to the blowout win over Oregon, Indiana also handled Alabama in the Rose Bowl, 38-3. Back-to-back blowout CFP wins and the win over Ohio State certainly make the Hoosiers appear unstoppable. But, with one game still remaining, the talk seems premature.

The Hurricanes reached the final by winning three playoff games: 10-3 over Texas A&M in the first round, 24-14 over Ohio State in the quarterfinals and then a 31-27 semifinal win over Ole Miss.

Miami didn't play in the ACC title game and entered the CFP under scrutiny, only to validate its selection by holding Texas A&M and the reigning national champions to a combined 17 points before surviving Ole Miss.

If Indiana is truly in the conversation of being the best team in college football history, they will need to take care of Miami. And the Hurricanes will definitely be the toughest challenge for Indiana this year, especially on the line of scrimmage.

Also, if Indiana is the greatest team ever and Miami wins, would that make the Hurricanes the best team ever?
