Miami gets super regional schedule at Louisville beginning on Friday

Miami will play in its first Super Regional since 2016, when the Hurricanes advanced to the College World Series.

Miami won the NCAA Hattiesburg Regional on Monday night with a 5-4 upset over host Southern Mississippi. The Hurricanes advance to their first super regional since 2016, when they also made the College World Series. Super Regionals are the best of three and will be played Friday through Sunday.

Miami is at Louisville for a best-of-three series beginning on Friday. The team that wins two games in the Super Regional will advance to the College World Series in Omaha that begins on Friday, June 13. Louisville and Miami did not play in 2025. The Cardinals and Hurricanes split four games in 2024.

Louisville won two out of three at Miami in 2024. Miami beat Louisville 8-5 in ACC Tournament pool play. Louisville is 38-21 but finished a half game behind Miami in the 2025 ACC standings with a 15-15 record. Miami is 33-25 overall and finished 15-14 in the ACC.

Miami went 3-1 in Hattiesburg after entering the NCAA Tournament with six losses in its previous seven games. Louisville also entered the NCAA Tournament with losses in six of their previous seven games before sweeping its way through the Nashville Regional with wins over East Tennessee State, Wright State and Vanderbilt.

The first game of the Louisville Regional will have first pitch on Friday at 3:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time on ESPN2. Saturday will have first pitch at 1100 EDT on ESPN and if necessary, the game time and network will be announced for Sunday.

Miami leads the all-time series with Louisville at 12-11 and is 7-6 in Louisville. Nine of the 13 games played at Louisville were between 2019 and 2023. Miami was 7-2 in the three most recent series in Louisville. Louisville is 3-0 in the NCAA Tournament versus Miami with wins in Columbia, Missouri in 2007 and at home in 2013.

Pitching matchups have not been announced yet. Miami is likely to start freshman A.J. Ciscar on Friday and Griffin Hugus on Saturday. Based on their starts in Hattiesburg, J.D. Arteaga could decide to start Reese Lumpkin over Tate DeRias on Sunday if game three is necessary.
