Defensive back Keionte Scott and wide receiver Tony Johnson are out and defensive tackle David Blay Jr. is questionable as the only prominent players for Miami on the initial Student-Athlete Availability Reporting update for the Hurricanes' game at Pittsburgh on Saturday.
With Scott out and Jakobe Thomas knocked out of the game at Virginia Tech last week, true freshman Bryce Fitzgerald, Zechariah Poyser and Dylan Day received the majority of the snaps for Miami at safety at Virginia Tech last week.
Scott has not played since the North Carolina State game two weeks ago and is expected to be out for the season. Johnson has not played since the SMU game three weeks ago and Blay has been out since Syracuse on November 8.
Reserve linebacker Nick Lapi and starting left guard Keith Gouiveia are the only players on the Pittsburgh two-deep depth chart listed as out. Reserves, running back Desmond Reid and starters, defensive tackles Francis Brewu and Sean FitzSimmons, left guard Ryan Carretta and kicker Trey Butkowski are questionable for Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh injured players 2025 stats
Lapi is a key reserve for Pittsburgh with 14 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in 2025. Reid is fourth on Pittsburgh with 60 carries for 278 yards and has two touchdowns with 23 receptions for 317 and another pair of scores.
Brewu has 32 tackles, 5.0 TFLs, 1.0 sack and 1.0 forced fumble in 2025. Gouveia started the first six games for Pittsburgh at left guard and Carretta the next four. Getting Carretta back against an elite Miami defensive line would significantly help Pittsburgh quarterback Mason Heintschel.
Fitzsimmons has 20 tackles, 2.0 TFLs sacks and 1.0 sack in 2025. Butkowski has missed the last three games for Pittsburgh. On the season, Butkowski has made 19 of his 21 field goal attempts and 40 of 41 extra points. Pittsburgh reserve kicker Sam Carpenter made all six extra points at Georgia Tech, but is one for three on field goals in the past two games.
