The four transfer commits Miami has on offense and defense are the lowest among the classes ranked in the 247Sports composite top 25 classes. Former Charlotte long-snapper Adam Booker and ex-Florida Atlantic kicker Carter Davis who committed to Miami on Saturday are not included in the 247Sports rankings.
Mario Cristobal has chosen quality over quantity early in the 2025 transfer portal. All four of the transfers committed to Miami for 2025 have received a four-star grade. Jacksonville State safety Zechariah Poyser was the first transfer to commit to Miami on December 17.
Poyser was followed by former LSU and Liberty wide receiver C.J. Daniels a day later and Louisiana Tech defensive tackle David Blay and Michigan State cornerback Charles Brantley on December 21. Brantley, Blay, Daniels and Poyser all project as starters for Miami entering the 2025 season.
Poyser is the 71st transfer and second-ranked safety in the 2025 portal. Daniels is the 55th-ranked transfer and 17th WR. Blay is the 23rd-ranked transfer and second-ranked DT and Brantley is 85th overall and the ninth-ranked CB. Miami should be one of the most attractive transfer destinations after a 10-2 regular season.
In addition to being the only team in the top 25 transfer classes with only four commits as ranked by 247Sports, Miami has the highest average per transfer for 2025. Oregon who is second has six commits and Alabama who is third has five commits. Included in the Alabama commitments is Miami wide receiver Isaiah Horton.
Miami is far from finished adding transfers. One of the players to watch is Wisconsin cornerback and Plantation American Heritage alum Xavier Lucas. Lucas would be a near-definite starter for Miami with Brantley and Poyser in a rebuilt Miami secondary. Returning CBs Damari Brown and O.J. Frederique also project as 2025 starters.
