Former Major League catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia has been hired by Miami as the Director of Program Development. Saltalamacchia has most recently been the manager of the Falmouth Commodoes of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Falmouth had 16 wins, 23 losses, and one tie in 2025. Saltalamacchia stated to the Falmouth website "we sent the most players (8) to the Cape League All-Star Team, had 21 players drafted in MLB, including 3 first-round picks, and Commodores’ player Maika Niu was honored as MVP of the entire Cape Cod Baseball League."
Apart from his position in Cape Cod, Saltalamacchia lives in West Palm Beach, where he was born and raised. Saltalamacchia was a coach with the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League before being hired by Falmouth as their manager.
In addition to his time as the Cape Cod League manager, Saltalamacchia was the baseball coach at the King's Academy in West Palm Beach. Saltalamacchia retired as a player in 2018 after a 12-year Major League career with six different teams.
This is neat. Former big leaguer and current @FalCommodores manager Jarrod Saltalamacchia has accepted a position w/ @CanesBaseball as the Director of Program Development.

Saltalamacchia hit .232 with 110 home runs and 381 runs batted in during his Major League career. In 2013 Saltalamacchia won a World Series as the backup catcher with the Boston Red Sox. Saltalamacchia had also spent time with the New England Sports Network as a fill-in analyst.
Saltalamacchia also told the Falmouth website, “I would like to have stayed with the team, but I was offered a major position with the University of Miami as Director of Program Development.” The Falmouth website also stated they had a record in sponsorship donations, merchandise sales, and full-week kids in the youth baseball clinic program under Saltalamacchia.
Saltalamacchia replaces Rob Cooper, who was hired to be the head coach at Ave Maria University. Miami reached its first NCAA Tournament Super Regional since 2016 in 2025, where they lost to Louisville. The Hurricanes return a good nucleus in 2026 led by third baseman Daniel Cuvet and shortstop Jake Ogden.
