Miami held on to beat Duke 5-4 after losing an early lead on Saturday night. The Hurricanes lead 4-0 after three innings, before Duke scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning and one in the fifth to tie the game at four. Miami scored the eventual winning run in the sixth to go in front 5-4.

Derek Williams hit a home run in the second inning to put Miami up 1-0. A Todd Hudson two-run single later in the second extended the Miami lead to 3-0. Daniel Cuvet added the second HR of the game for Miami to extend the lead to 4-0. A.J. Ciscar cruised through the first 3.1 innings for Miami, facing the minimum 10 batters.

After Ciscar hit Ben Miller with a pitch, Duke had two straight hits that eventually scored Miller. A fielder's choice and an error scored two more Duke runs to cut their deficit to 4-3. Alex Giroux relieved Ciscar and got out of the fourth inning for Miami. A Tyler Albright single in the fifth scored A.J. Gracia to tie the game at four.

Miami regained the lead in the sixth when a Max Galvin single scored Tanner Smith with what turned out to be the winning run. Giroux pitched 3.1 innings, allowing three hits, one earned run, with a walk and four strikeouts and improved to 4-1 with the win. Brian Walters pitched two innings with a walk and three strikeouts for his first save.

After Miami regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, Giroux and Walters combined to retire nine of the last 10 batters. Duke did not have a hit after the sixth inning. Gabe Nard pitched three innings, allowing four hits and one unearned run with four strikeouts, to fall to 5-2.

Duke and Miami will play game three on Sunday at 1 PM on ACC Network Extra to decide who takes the three-game series. After Duke, Miami hosts Florida Atlantic on Tuesday before Georgia Tech travels south for a three-game series next weekend.
