Miami held serve at No. 2 in Sunday's Associated Press Top 25, picking up 13 first-place votes after a bye week, while Indiana surged to No. 3 — the highest ranking in school history — on the strength of its 30-20 win at Oregon. Ohio State stayed No. 1 and widened its lead with 50 first-place votes.

The Hoosiers' rise is a genuine milestone. Indiana earned three first-place votes, their most in a poll since Nov. 5, 1945, and jumped four spots after handing Oregon its first loss. The Ducks fell to No. 8, their lowest position in 20 polls. For Miami, the bye didn't hurt; the Hurricanes remain the top challenger to the Buckeyes heading into Friday's home date with Louisville.
Texas A&M sits at No. 4, followed by Ole Miss at No. 5. Alabama rose to No. 6 after beating Missouri and Texas Tech landed at No. 7. Oregon settled at No. 8 after the home loss to Indiana while Georgia and LSU rounded out the top 10 at Nos. 9 and 10. It was a volatile week 7 as eight ranked teams lost, and five new teams entered; USC (20), Texas (21), Utah (23), Cincinnati (24) and Nebraska (25) are now in the Top 25 while Michigan, Illinois, Arizona State, Iowa State and Florida State fell out.
Miami's position is a good signal from the AP voters. Indiana is starting to build a lot of momentum and some even argued that they could come in at No. 1. The Hurricanes got respect in the ballots because of the double-digit wins over USF and Florida, as well as the opening win against Notre Dame. The Canes had 13 first-place votes this week and are the clear No. 2 behind Ohio State.
The SEC placed 10 teams in the Top 25 (five in the top 10), followed by the Big Ten with five. The Big 12 has four, the ACC has three, the AAC has two, and Notre Dame represents the independents at No. 13. Oklahoma tumbled eight spots to No. 14 after losing to Texas, while the Longhorns re-entered at No. 21.
The ACC checks in with three ranked teams: Miami (No. 2), Georgia Tech (No. 12) and Virginia (No. 18). Georgia Tech’s 6–0 start has gone a bit unnoticed nationally but they remain one of the better teams in the ACC. GT visits Duke on Saturday. Virginia was on a bye and hosts Washington State next. Florida State dropped out after their loss to Pitt.
